Acclaimed novelist Margaret Atwood is promoting her new book THE YEAR OF THE FLOOD with live theatre events in a multi-city international tour and it's all being captured on film by award-winning filmmaker Ron Mann.
“There is a marvelous convergence of creative energies coming together around Margaret's stage performance that I felt important to document,” said Mann.
Margaret Atwood's "literary per formance with music," premiered last week in Edinburgh to rave reviews and will tour the UK, with dates set in Canada and US. Each show will feature local actors, musicians and singers.
“It's a chance to break free from the traditional structure of a book tour," said Atwood. "I felt this particular novel deserved a more complex presentation."
Atwood's latest novel is set in the same post-apocalyptic future as her last, ORYX AND CRAKE, and chronicles the onset of a pandemic (a “waterless flood”) and the small group that survives it. All of the proceeds from the tour will be going to Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and other environmental groups.
Mann's production company Sphinx Productions will produce the documentary. The project has so far garnered interest from foreign broadcasters in the UK and Australia with Canada expected to follow.
