For the Love of Movies is the first feature-length documentary to tell the richly anecdotal, barely known history of film criticism from the silent era to the present.

This colorful and controversial profession has developed along with the cinema itself.

The film is an oral recollection by a chorus of today's most important critics and filmmakers. Together they bring to life their own contributions and those of their illustrious predecessors from Vachel Lindsay in 1915 to the late Pauline Kael.
